We are kind of in love unicorns and all thing boho (see here, here or here). So when Gia’s mommy told us she wanted a Bohemian Unicorn 1st birthday, we were beyond excited! We’d already done one unicorn party and wanted to create something equally adorable but completely different. Fortunately, Gia’s mom had some great ideas and we had a blast working with her to come up with some new design concepts!
I would not describe myself as a balloon loving person (probably because I flash back to my youth with those balloon arches from senior prom or the clusters of mylar). But balloons are making a comeback in a major and super cute way and I am falling in love! There are all the giant mylar letters & numbers and those oh-so-amazing garlands…one cannot help but want to start using them again. And we decided to do just that for Gia’s party. Desert Rose Florals completely dazzled us with the garland on the backdrop and the centerpieces. We added “ONE” balloon letters to the photo booth to complete the look, and our little guests played with punch balloons in between bites of mini cupcakes and unicorn cookies. To compliment the balloons, we kept the rest of our decor simple with some greenery and a few dreamcatchers.
We loved the desserts at this party! Nickels Cake Creations delivered an absolutely gorgeous unicorn head cake that had all the guests swooning (and her cakes so yummy too!), along with adorable mini cupcakes topped with unicorn horns and a smash cake. Nat’s Sweets provided simply beautiful cookies that perfectly complimented the unicorn cake and were almost too pretty to eat. Almost. Finally, we fished off the desert table with some rock candy and pastel rainbow marshmallow twists.
When our little guests weren’t sneaking adorable treats off the dessert table, they spent their time making edible rainbow necklaces, coloring unicorn pictures, and decorating piñata grab bags. As is the case at most parties, the piñata was the highlight of the day for them, and it was just a little sad to see that darling unicorn piñata smashed to pieces.
I loved the favors for this party! Gia’s mommy found mini glittery cotton candy favors which were simply perfect for our unicorn theme. I made sure to taste test the favors my children brought home and they tasted just a good as they looked!
