Christal Huth is the stitching fingers behind the truly unique company, i Sewpose. The first time I saw one of her hand embroidered necklaces, I was instantly in love. And then I started seeing her other gorgeous designs. There is so much care and creativity put into each piece–it’s so hard to pick just one! And like her work, Christal is unique and beautiful person. We have loved collaborating with her and getting to know more of her story, and we know you will too!
Also, through November 28th, Christal is offering an exclusive special on one of her newest products to our readers! She will also be a seller at the Polka Dot Road Show in Santa Clarita on Nov. 12th, which we are giving away tickets for! Keep reading for more information.
I personally hand embroider every hoop and necklace you see in my shop, as well as create wall hangings and embroidery kits. All designs are 100% my own! I do a lot of custom work for weddings, baby showers, anniversaries and personalized gifts. I feel so humbled and honored that people trust me with such precious memories and moments.
I’ve always been a crafter. I dabbled in painting, drawing, ceramics and then found my way to getting lost in fiber arts. Like many, my childhood included many of those cross stitch kits. I remember somewhere in my early 20’s staring at those kits at a craft store and thinking, I love to stitch but those designs do nothing for me. Slow light bulb turn on…..I don’t have to stitch those designs! I can make my own designs! From there I couldn’t stop stitching! Whatever design came into my head. I was amassing these hoops all over our tiny New York apartment. In an awkward and somewhat nervous effort, I set up an Etsy shop. I figured I’d maybe sell one or two, to my Mom. I was fine with that. When strangers, from other countries started ordering my things and contacting me about work, I was so excited. This business has always been more of a creative outlet than a money making venture. I feel like it’s an incredible bonus that I get to keep stitching AND make money for my family. Most of my business lately is word of mouth custom orders. I always have at least 2 or 3 projects on my desk at one time, and they are all special in one way or another. I’m also so excited about the embroidery classes I’ve just started teaching here and there. It’s so motivating to share what is normally an isolated craft with others. Same with craft fairs. I love connecting with others in the name of making!
I always say my number one job is being a mama and it’s a job I enjoy so much! I have a 3 year old son who has more energy than 10 of me put together! Our days are FULL to the brim of adventures, learning and laughter. I’m so thankful to be able to have this time with him. My husband was my high school sweetheart and is my greatest friend. He’s an animator for Disney and he’s such an inspirational artist and person. Those Disney perks ain’t bad either, especially with a 3 year old! Other than embroidery and my family, I love yoga, exploring new places, cooking and trying to sip life’s beauty in slowly! I grew up an Army brat and never know where to say I’m from. I’ve been in SoCal now for around 5 years though and I love it so much. Other than wishing I had more family nearby, this place certainly feels like home.
