A few months ago we were given the opportunity to throw a baby shower for a Disney-loving family as they anticipated the arrival of their little boy. Being huge Disney fans ourselves, we couldn’t wait to create the “Happiest Place on Earth” for all of the guests, complete with the nostalgic theme park feel and all those yummy treats.
Inspiration for the shower came from this Jungle Cruise poster painted by the sister of the mom-to-be, which would later decorate baby Wade’s nursery. The use of primary colors like green, blue, and yellow made finding matching decorations relatively easy. Some of the decor was actually found at Disneyland, like their line of vintage plates, vintage postcards, and those iconic Mickey Mouse balloons. We added a few other items, like simple black Mickey cupcake toppers, and those gorgeous Mickey topiaries created by a talented friend. The goal was to really let the food items stand out since they were so unique.
The tables were set with bamboo plates and flatware with a simple centerpiece of mums and a Disney Golden Book. Baby Wade had quite a collection of books to enjoy later!
The food was really the star of the show, because who doesn’t want to enjoy Disney goodies without those hefty prices?! Here was the menu:
- Mini Turkey Legs
- Little Red Wagon Corn Dogs
- French Market Salad
- Spinach Feta Hand Pies (from Porto’s)
- Fruit Stand (strawberries, pineapple, and clementines)
- Hot & Fresh Popcorn
- Mickey Mouse Rice Krispy treats (Click here for recipe)
- Matterhorn Macaroons
- Enchanted Tiki Room Dole Whips
- Coconut Cupcakes
- Blue Bayou Mint Juleps
- Ice Water
- A painted fingerprint “guestbook”
- “Wishes for Baby” cards for guests to fill out
- Candy Palace Lollipops
No shower is complete without the beautiful mom-to-be…
…and since baby Wade made his a appearance a few weeks later, he got in on the Disney fun.
