What kind of party do you plan for a man’s 60th birthday? This was the question recently presented to us by a client who wanted her husband’s birthday to be perfect. After tossing around a couple ideas, we finally settled on a Tuscan Winery theme–and it was perfect. With an alluring blend of elegant and rustic (with plenty of wine, of course), we were able to deliver a beautiful event for our darling client and her husband.
Our goal was to create an event that felt like an evening in Napa. We kept decor somewhat simple while incorporating a number of organic elements like olive branches and herbs, succulents and fruit. Our color palette featured mostly neutral colors with an occasional pop of color here and there to spice things up. Corks were included in the succulent centerpieces and as filler for candle holders to tie in the winery theme. Finally, as the evening progressed, market lighting and tea lights provided lovely ambiance for the guests. It all came together in a beautifully simple and stunning way, exuding that warm and happy feeling you get sitting at your favorite winery with your favorite people.
Food for the event was catered by the amazing Made by Meg. She and her team did an excellent job of creating the ideal bistro style menu that was perfect for our Tuscan winery theme, including some amazing short ribs, special request of the birthday boy. A beautiful charcuterie board at the bar provided extra enjoyment for guests as they sipped their wine. Finally, guests finished off the evening with a delectable dessert bar from Cakes by Sally Jane and cookies from Lady Di’s. If blackberry syrah cupcakes and rosemary lemon bars don’t say wine country, I don’t know what does.
Each family went home with a bottle of authentic, rosemary infused olive oil from Greece. The Greek Pantry on Etsy was wonderful to work with and the bottles arrived carefully packed and in perfect condition. Rosemary sprigs and olive branches were tied on the night before to make the bottles even more inviting.
I think my favorite aspect of this event was the live music. Our client was able to surprise her husband by securing one his favorite musicians to perform for the evening. It the capstone of a truly perfect evening celebrating a great man’s life.
