Lucy makes me so happy. Seriously. Every time I see her cheeks I am filled with joy and just want to start kissing them. She’s absolutely adorable (as you’ll see if you scroll down). And her 1st birthday turned out every bit as adorable as she is. When her mom came to me with a vision for what she wanted, we couldn’t wait to get started planning and creating!
Little Miss Lucy’s dessert bar was simply divine. Those stunning naked cakes were (both the smash cake and the mini cakes) were made by Sweet Rosey Poseys. I do believe the only thing better than a regular cake is your own mini 3-layered cake, complete with pretty flowers on top. And the yummy purple cake pops were made by Lucy’s mama.
Our celebration was held during lunch, so we served subs, along with mac n cheese for the kiddos. But the highlight of lunch was the other dessert: a catered FroYo bar from Menchie’s! Choose your froyo flavor, choose your toppings, grab a spoon and enjoy. I didn’t even know that they catered, but I was delighted to find out they did. This was the ideal dessert for a birthday held in July in SoCal (and so much easier than all our other ideas).
The decor was perfect for little girl–lots of flowers, ribbons, lace, gold and glitter. We created both the large ribbon and lace banner used for the backdrop, as well as the smaller one on the high chair. We also made the sparkly gold cake topper, happy birthday banner and Lucy’s larger than life gold name. The rose curtain behind the smash cake high chair made for a darling backdrop (both for the cake smash and her 1 year photo session). And I just can’t get over the florals–especially that gorgeous garland! If I had my way, I’d have one of those in my house at all times.
Each little guest was given a crown to wear. Lucy’s mom made the baby’s breath floral crowns with artificial flowers but you’ve never know it. I thought they were real until I picked one up. And my girls both still wear theirs.
