We just love Chef Kyndra of Ooh LaLa Catering! We’ve worked with her on a number of different events and are huge fans of her cooking–she was the one who originally introduced to me to goat cheese stuffed bacon-wrapped dates, which are like a little piece of sweet and savory heaven in your mouth. And in addition to being a fantastic chef, she’s just an amazing person! So when she asked us to coordinate and decorate the relaunch of her kitchen, we couldn’t resist (especially if it included taste-testing).
Kyndra has worked out of a variety of kitchens over the years, but finally has a gorgeous kitchen she can consistently perform her culinary magic in. To celebrate the new kitchen, as well as some rebranding and a new website, she hosted an open house event for all her current and potential clients.
For her relaunch, Kyndra wanted a fall rustic chic look–if that’s even a thing. We decided to make a thing, and tried to deliver just that. Our featured item (and my absolute favorite) was a fairy light dome–we created a cluster of them on a giant wood slab in the center of the food table and used them as centerpieces on each cocktail table. My other favorite element were there floral hoops created by Briana of Thead and Sow. They were simply stunning hanging over the main food and dessert tables. We made sure to incorporate the tiffany blue color from Kyndra’s logo with vases and ribbon on the cocktail tables. We used white pumpkins and gourds to give everything the feel of autumn. Finally, we decided that giant 4 foot tall marquee letters spelling EAT would make the perfect statement.
Chef Kyndra’s menu was definitely drool-worthy. Her clients were treated a gourmet sampling of some of her favorite seasonal dishes. From the pan seared scallops to the brie & cranberry puffs to the cocoa dusted short ribs, her menu not only sounded delicious but tasted absolutely amazing. I mean, those short ribs practically melted in my mouth.
A wonderfully delicious variety of desserts were provided by Elegant Expectations and were the perfect conclusion to a delectable meal.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by talented Choklate. Kyndra had heard her perform and knew she needed her smooth voice at her own event. To fall in love with her voice, check out her out on You Tube.
