Let us introduce you to Melanie Ham, the adorable talent behind the macrame inspired table runner used in our Bohemian Beach Baby Shower. Melanie creates video tutorials on crocheting, quilting, sewing and a variety of other DIY projects. Now, this may seem like an introduction best left for your Grandma, but Melanie takes your sweet, little Grandma’s projects and makes them modern and current (who isn’t in love with macrame right now?). Just LOOK at some of her projects below.
Melanie’s tutorials are specifically designed to be simple and beginner-friendly, but they typically include some sort of unique material (like an original type of yarn or vintage fabric) to make your novice-level item totally trendy and fun. In other words, she helps the person who doesn’t know the first thing about crocheting make a scarf that looks like it was sold in an expensive Etsy shop.
Along the way, she discovered her passion for encouraging others to make and create, and she has developed a successful business doing just that. From a chevron blanket, to tassel banners, to makeup bags, to boot cuffs (can you say adorable handmade Christmas presents?!), to a macrame table runner hack, Melanie has a tutorial on just about anything you’d want.
She also offers some premium courses for those who want to go more in-depth with their projects. So if you’ve been wanting to DIY Christmas gifts, make that quilt from your children’s baby clothes, or– if you want a macrame table runner without the price tag, head over to Melanie’s website to get started!
If you follow Melanie, you can expect two new videos each week. On Tipsy Tuesdays she gives all kinds of tips and tricks to make your DIYs easier; on How To Fridays, she releases her tutorials (usually about 15 minutes in length). She has 200+ videos, all of which are organized by subject on her website.
In addition to her shorter video tutorials, she offers a number of classes. On Brit + Co, she teaches a class on building your brand on social media. And on Melanie’s Makers, she offers 4 Premium Courses (one of which is free!). These courses are slow paced, easy to follow, and give several camera angles allowing you to fully view and understand each step. They are also easily formatted and organized to make it simple to move ahead step by step. Finally they include membership to a private Facebook group where Melanie answers your questions and helps with any problems you may have.
All of Melanie’s contact information and social media links can be found on our Business Directory. Please support our friend, Melanie, by following her on social media, checking out her awesome tutorials and telling your friends and family about her (especially the crafty ones).
