I was first introduced to cupcake bars in November by a friend. At the time, I wasn’t too keen on the idea. Especially when you look at all of those fancy-schmancy parties with all the beautiful and perfect food displays. Because cupcake bars aren’t pretty in and of themselves (though they can be). But I have completely changed my mind on the matter and am now a huge fan of them. I think it’s one of the most simple and cost-effective ways to serve cake. And you can really customize it based on your guest list and theme. Plus, I personally have tons of fun putting them together. I have a feeling I’ll be doing a lot more of these in the future.
I love cupcake bars because…
1) It’s SO simple!
~ You can make your cupcake from scratch if you want; or you could go the super easy way and use a box mix
~ Make your cupcakes ahead of time (a week or more) and freeze; pull out the morning of your party so they defrost by party time
~ You don’t have to decorate them (which, if you’re anything like me, is the most stressful part of cake)
2) It’s cheap!
~ It’s tons cheaper to make a few batches of cupcakes than to order a fancy cake, or even pre-made cupcakes from a bakery
~ Start early by clipping coupons and purchasing ingredients on sale
3) Makes your guests feel special
~ Cater to guests who have allergies by making a batch of gluten-free, dairy-free or vegan cupcakes
~ Your guests have the option to customize their cake according to their individual taste preferences
~ Kids LOVE assembling their own cupcakes
~ Guests can eat their cake at their convenience rather than waiting for the official cake cutting
~ Can be specifically customized based on your guests, color scheme, theme, etc. (for example, serve mini cupcake for children’s parties; or serve all pink and red cupcakes, frostings and toppings for a Valentine’s party)
